Back-to-back titles for No. 1 Men's Volleyball

NORTH BAY – Top-ranked Humber men's volleyball successfully defended its title, winning back-to-back OCAA titles after sweeping the No. 8 Redeemer Royals (11-2, 2nd West) Thursday evening, 3-0. The final set scores were 25-8, 25-21 and 25-11. It was the first time the Hawks captured consecutive titles since winning three straight from 2010 to 2012.

Rrezart Sadiku and Joshua Fadare dominated for Humber in the Championship match, combining to score 33 of the Hawks' 57 points on the night. Sadiku finished with a game-high 18 points on 11 kills and seven aces while Fadare put up 15 points on 11 kills, three blocks and one ace.

Rrezart Sadiku set the tone for Humber in the opening set helping his team jump out to a 9-2 lead after he delivered five straight aces in his first trip to the line. Sadiku picked up nine points in the first as Humber dominated the set taking it by 17 points.

The second set was tightly contested throughout as Redeemer looked to fight their way back into the match. The Royals held a one-point lead late but was answered by a 7-2 run by Humber to close out the set.

The Hawks began the third set with a 6-1 run to grab the momentum early. Humber never let their foot of the gas in the set building on their lead and ultimately took the set by 14 points to complete the sweep.

Senior Rrezart Sadiku was named the championship MVP and tournament all-star, while All-Canadian Jake Gomes was named to the all-tournament team for the third time.

What's Next?

No. 1 Humber will head to Quebec as the top-seed in the 2022 CCAA National Championship, hosted by Cégep Limoilou. The quarter-final round begins on March 25.
