HAMPSON, OUELLETTE STILL IN FRONT AT OCAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. - Thirty six holes are now complete at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships, with the excitement about to pick up for Wednesday's final round.

Fanshawe College's Mitchel Hampson and Humber College's Madison Ouellette are still setting the pace as both remain atop their respective leaderboards. Hampson fired a second straight two-under 70 to sit four-under with 18 holes to play, four shots ahead of Trey Ross of Humber.

Ouellette meanwhile came within a stroke of matching her Monday round, posting an impressive one-over 73. Ouellette is currently one-over for the tournament, 15 strokes ahead of Humber teammate Hayley McCallum and Devyn Fraser of Durham College.

The team competition is tight on the men's side with Fanshawe (592) overtaking Humber (593) on Tuesday to take a one-stroke advantage heading into Wednesday. Georgian College (621) sits in the bronze medal position 29 shots behind the front runners, but with a nine stroke lead on Durham (633).

Humber (301) is poised to win its third straight women's team title holding a 40-stroke advantage over St. Clair (341).

The Division II men's teams are also set with St. Clair (673) leading Lakehead Orillia (678) by five strokes. Sault College (692) is also in the mix 19 strokes behind.

Other notable rounds on Tuesday include Georgian's Noah Leduc who shot a one-under 71 coming within a stroke of matching Hampson's top round of the day. Leduc joins Hampson, Ross and Ouellette as the only golfers to shoot a round of par or better at the competition.

The final round goes tomorrow with tee times starting at 9:00 a.m. at Legends on the Niagara Golf Course. The event is hosted by Niagara College.
