
The fifth draw of the OCAA Championships got underway at the YNCU Curling Centre with a trio of mixed doubles matches.
The first match saw Sault2 face off against Mohawk, with the Mountaineers grabbing a point in each of the first three ends. Sault2 responded with a single of their own in the fourth end. Both teams swapped 3 point ends in the fifth and sixth before Sault2 managed 4 points over the final 2 ends to secure an 8-6 victory.
Fleming1 continued its championship against Fanshawe. Fanshawe jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after end one, with Fleming1 squaring the score 3-3 after the third end. The game remained tied up at 6 until the seventh end, where Fanshawe grabbed 3 points. Fleming1 responded with 3 points of their own in the eighth end, setting up an extra end. Fanshawe managed a single for the 10-9 win in the match.
The final match of the draw saw Fleming2 compete with Humber for top seed in the division. Humber scored a deuce in the opening end, before Fleming2 grabbed points across the next three ends to take a 4-2 lead. Fleming2 went into the eighth end with a 3 point lead before Humbers late game heroics prevailed again with a 4-point end securing a 7-6 victory.
