OCAA CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS DRAW 3 RECAP

A full schedule of games in draw 3 saw three mixed doubles contests, a pair of men’s matches and a lone women’s game.

Mixed Doubles saw Humber jump out to an early 1-0 lead over Sault1. Sault1 recovered quickly with 5 points in the second end, and a steal of 1 in the third. Humber would close the gap to 2 after the fifth end. Sault1 would take a single point in each of the next two ends. Humber would score 4 in the eighth end to force an extra end. Humber would take it in extra ends with a final score of 10-8.

In the second doubles game, Fleming2 scored early taking a 1-0 lead over their in-school counterpart Fleming2. Fleming2 responded with 3 points of their own in the second end, and 3 more points in the third to go up 6-1. Fleming1 would not be deterred by the early deficit as they rallied back to win the game 11-10.

The final doubles match of the draw saw Sault1 take on Fanshawe. Sault1 capitalized early and often as they pounced early and often, taking an 8-0 lead into the fourth end. Sault1 would keep the clean sheet as they went on to win 10-0.

In Men’s action Confederation came out hurling with an early 2-0 lead over Fanshawe. Fanshawe responded with a deuce in the second end, and that trend continued as the two teams finished the eighth end tied 5-5. Fanshawe managed a single and a 6-5 victory in the extra end.

The other Men’s game Sault College squared off against Mohawk. Mohawk got out to a 3-1 lead after 2 ends. The Sault managed a pair in the third end, but Mohawk responded quickly with 3 points of their own in the fourth end. After exchanging points over the next 3 ends, Mohawk walked away with an 8-6 victory.

The final women’s match of the day had Mohawk jump out to a quick 1-0 lead over Humber. Humber responded with a 5-point second end and did not look back as they cruised to a 10-3 victory.
