The Humber Hawks dominated the Durham Lords in the OCAA bronze medal game, defeating the Lords 18-2 in five innings. The win advances the Hawks to the championship game where they will play the St. Clair Saints for the third straight year. It will also be Humber's sixth straight appearance in the championship game.
The outcome of the game was determined before the Lords even stepped in the batter's box as the Hawks exploded for eight runs in the top of the first inning. Following a Lords run in the bottom half of the first, the Hawks added a pair of runs when Ryan Brodie doubled home Jack St. Louis and Tyrus Bath.
Up 10-2 in the fifth, the Hawks added another eight-spot as the team continued to punish the Lords for their lack of control by the pitchers. The Hawks walked eight times in the game with Bath reaching three times on walks.
St. Louis and Brodie each had three hits in the game with Brodie adding four RBIs and St. Louis scoring three runs. All nine positional players crossed home plate during the game for the Hawks.
Equally as important was the pitching of Aidan Murphy for the Hawks who allowed just three hits and two runs (one earned) with a walk and four strikeouts in five innings of action.
