SAINTS PUNCH TICKET TO GOLD MEDAL GAME

The St. Clair Saints used timely hitting to advance to the OCAA Championship gold medal game with a 7-2 win over the Durham Lords. The Saints scored seven runs on just seven hits while reaching base on six walks to continue their quest for a third straight OCAA Championship.

The Saints led from start to finish, scoring in each of the first three innings before added a pair of runs in the fifth inning. The Lords saw their luck at the plate disappear one day after scoring 11 runs against the Humber Hawks. The Lords had six hits and four walks, but could only mustre a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.

Hunter Appleyard was the star for the Saints, going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs and a walk. On the mound, Sam McKinlay allowed just one run on six hits and four walks while striking out six batters.

With the win, the Saints will await the winner of the bronze medal game between the Hawks and Lords.
