Field Set For 2019 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- After the dust settled on the OCAA season Sunday afternoon, the 2019 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship field of eight is now officially set.

The Humber College department of athletics and recreation will host the three-day tournament from Feb. 21-23 at the North Campus Gym. The Final Eight tournament will feature the top programs in the province, with the top two programs advancing to the CCAA National Championship in Red Deer, AB.

The tournament is loaded with championship experience, with 19 titles claimed by four of the participants, combined. The Mohawk Mountaineers pace the way with nine OCAA gold medals, while the Fanshawe Falcons will try to claim its third title in four years.

Four programs fall inside the CCAA top-15, led by No. 1 Fanshawe. The Humber Hawks sit fifth in the national rankings, followed by Georgian (11th), and Redeemer (14th).

The event will kick off Wednesday evening with the championship awards dinner at the Holiday Inn, and doors will open at 6 p.m. Award winners will be announced live throughout the banquet via the OCAA twitter account.

A total of 11 games will be played in three days, with the quarter-finals beginning Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. The winning teams will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, while the losing teams will be relegated to the consolation bracket.

Admission is free for everyone, and each game will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
