FALCONS REMAIN PERFECT AS THEY HEAD TO GOLD MEDAL MATCH

The Fanshawe Falcons have punched their ticket to the OCAA gold medal game after an impressive victory over the Redeemer Royals on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.

The semi-final was a good match up, but the Falcons were able to keep their perfect season record intact to win in three straight sets 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-18).

Sebastian Lethbridge (London) was named Player of the Game for the Falcons after posting 36 assists and 14 digs and was thrilled with the performance from his team.

"It's pretty sweet,” said Lethbridge. "Everything we've done building it up the last eight months to this moment with everything we've put into it, it's incredible.”

The Falcons will now move onto play the Humber Hawks in the gold medal match at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

"It was awesome that our guys were able to come out when it mattered most and put together our best match of the season,” said Falcons head coach Patrick Johnston. "We will focus in and watch the other semi-final and see what we can take from it to get ready for tomorrow.”

Linden Bontkes (Langley, B.C.) was named Player of the Game for Redeemer with seven kills and two blocks in the game.

The Royals will move onto play in the bronze medal game at 2 p.m. on Saturday where they will meet the host Georgian Grizzlies.
