CONSOLATION FINAL SEES FOUR LEAD CHANGES AS LORDS DEFEAT EAGLES IN SHOOTOUT
TORONTO, Ont. - In a crazy game that saw four lead changes, the Durham Lords earned the consolation title and fifth-overall ranking in the province after defeating UTM 4-3 in a shootout.

Durham's Sheldon Brown (Whitby, Ont.) opened the scoring less than three minutes into the action, in what has become a staple of early games during the tournament. Brown slid between two Eagles defenders to find the back of the net.

Thirty minutes later the Eagles Eric Halar (Mississauga, Ont.) scored the equalizer off a pretty assist from Zimba Galloway (Brampton, Ont.). At the half the teams were even 1-1.

Jaimin Rehal (Oakville, Ont.) opened the second half scoring ten minutes in, placing the ball just inside the post from nearly 40 yards out to give the Eagles the advantage.

It was short-lived, as the Lords tallied back-to-back goals off the feet of Dreyon McKenzie (Ajax, Ont.) and Quinn Detlor (Whitby, Ont.) to take the lead back.

To wrap up a crazy ten-minute stretch, Eric Halar netted his second goal of the day less than two minutes later to draw even. No more goals would be scored in regulation, fittingly sending the match to extra time.

After no goals in thirty minutes of overtime, the first shootout of the weekend was needed. Each goalie made one save on the opening five shots, and the game wouldn't be decided until the keepers were forced to kick on each team eleventh attempt.

Durham's keeper converted, while UTM's did not to make it a 4-3 Lords final.

UTM's Eric Halar and Durham's Kristien Bissonnette were named players of the game.
