OSHAWA, Ont. - Opening the OCAA men's baseball championship presented by belairdirect, the Humber Hawks defeated the Fanshawe Falcons 6-2 on Friday morning in Oshawa.

The Falcons were first on the board courtesy a two RBI single from Quinton Twohey in the first inning. The Hawks were quick to reply, picking up a sac fly RBI in consecutive innings from Brendan Lyons and Ty Martin in the bottom of the first and second.

Starting pitchers, Hawks Rory Pollard and Falcons Kaleb Bilger, dueled until the bottom of the fifth when Bilger found himself in trouble. With the Hawks loading the bases, Bilger walked in the game-winning run before Humber’s Keegan Murphy and Lyons combined for three insurance runs to secure their place in the OCAA semifinal Friday afternoon.

The Hawks will play the winner of the Durham Lords and St. Clair Saints at 6:30 p.m., while the Falcons will face the loser at 4 p.m.
